Abrar Al-Heeti is a senior reporter, video host and producer at CNET covering technology and culture, with a particular interest in phones, streaming, autonomous vehicles, digital accessibility, internet culture and entertainment. She graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is now based in San Francisco.
Abrar was named a Tech Media Trailblazer by the Consumer Technology Association in 2019 and also won a Telly Award that year. She was a winner of SPJ NorCal’s Excellence in Journalism Awards in 2022 in the Arts and Culture category, and has four times been a finalist in the Los Angeles Press Club’s National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards, winning first (2024), second (2023 and 2022) and third place (2021). She also received two first-place awards in the San Francisco Press Club’s Greater Bay Area Journalism Awards in 2024. In 2025, she was named a Webby Award Honoree, and won a Gold Telly Award.
Abrar is a member of Qwoted’s Media Advisory Board. She regularly appears on segments for This Week in Tech, and is a guest co-host for Tech News Weekly.
